The Church held their Christmas fair on Sunday. We ran a busy stall producing Christmas themed calendars and made £41.00. The total raised for the Fair was £800. Thanks to all the boys that helped run the stall and to all those that came down to support the event.

Lord Mayor's Show

Last Updated on Saturday, 19 November 2011 12:30 Written by Pete Saturday, 19 November 2011 12:22

Last Saturday some of our boys, who are members of the Battalion Band, went to watch the Lord Mayor’s show in the City of London.  This trip was arranged so that they could see other marching bands, as it is hoped that they will be performing in the show next year as members of the London Massed Band of the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade.

Jumble Sale

Well done to everyone who supported our recent Jumble Sale. I can confirm that the total raised currently now stands at £1,001 and this could be the highest amount ever collected in the 40+ years that we've been organising a jumble sale. Half the proceeds, as normal, will be donated to our church while the other half will be used to continue the work of the 10th, subsidising events, activities and trips out

Battalion 5-a-side football

Written by David Monday, 17 October 2011 10:41

Just to finish off a very busy day on Saturday (following straight on from the Jumble Sale!) the Battalion football competition took place on Saturday evening. Congratulations to the Junior Section team who won their league and to the Company Section team who, on checking the results, came 2nd (my apologies for announcing you as winners by mistake).

Thanks to Kev and Mark D who refereed and to Mark H for organising the event as well as parents and friends who supported us.

National T/Pin Bowling

Last Updated on Monday, 24 October 2011 21:55 Written by David Monday, 17 October 2011 10:52

On Saturday 8th October we took two Company Section teams to the National T/Pin bowling competition at a venue in Dunstable (near Luton). The older team of Mark, Stuart and Alex qualified from their group to the knock out stages (outstanding performance up to this stage by Alex with 5 'strikes' back to back in one game) but were eliminated at the quarter final stage.

Our younger team of Dan, Taylor and Ben really did well and were crowned as National champions in 'The Alley' competition for under 15's and any 'B' and 'C' teams.

Certain members of staff (namely Mr P) couldn't match your scores but Kev did in the Officers competition

HMS Belfast Visit

Written by Mark Tuesday, 04 October 2011 13:20

After Sunday’s church parade the Junior Section boys seemed to thoroughly enjoy their visit to H.M.S Belfast. The trip started with a noisy train journey to London followed by a quick pit stop for lunch at McDonalds, after which we had an informative and energetic tour of the ship. We ended the day with a much needed ice cream, and a slightly quieter journey home to Worcester Park.

Thanks must go to Mark Dawson who suggested and funded the trip using his Jack Petchey award monies.

Waitrose's 'Community Matters' initiative

Last Updated on Tuesday, 04 October 2011 13:16 Written by Mark Friday, 05 August 2011 12:06

The 'Community Matters' initiative ran by Waitrose allocates £1,000 a month to each of Waitrose's 190 branches to distribute amongst three local community projects. For the month of August the 10th was allocated as one of the projects.

How the money is divided is decided by the Shoppers. They are given a token at the checkout, which they then place in one of three boxes at the store exit, each allocated to the different cause. The amount we receive is directly proportional to the number of tokens we receive from customers.

We would like to thank all those that put their tockens in our box. Our share was £230.
